It worked, and it worked even better than I expected. It's very easy to clean. Not sure what type of finish it is, maybe powder coated. a place to hide behind a gleaming steel surface. I wonder why it's there. This product also comes with its own little box to catch anything that gets in your way and has a lid for storage. It also looks great on a pink granite countertop. I am sure it will work well for many years, if not I will let you know. If you were to ask me what I liked best, I would answer "It did not disappoint." Like many other products.
