Review on πŸ”Š Lepai LP-2020TI Mini Class D Stereo Amplifier with Power Supply - Enhanced Digital Hi-Fi Audio by Kunjan Alston

Great Value

Found a pair of Polk R150 bookshelf speakers for $39, so I needed a small amp to power them. The speakers say they need 20 watts to power them, so this little amp ticks all the right boxes. To my surprise, it mixes really well. To test this, I set them up on my dining table and plugged the amp into my Chromebook's headphone jack. I set the amp volume to maximum and bypassed the tone controls, then used the Chromebook's volume control to adjust the volume. I started a Youtube playlist and let it play for about 4 hours. The sound was loud enough, but pleasant and balanced, neither boomy nor tinny. The amp stayed cold the whole time, and the wart on the wall only slightly warmed up. At full volume, you can hear a slight hum if you lean close to the speakers, but it's completely imperceptible once you turn it up below 70%. Now it's hooked up to my TV using speaker stands I already had. It's a big improvement over the TV speakers and far better than any soundbar I've found for less than $100. Nothing bad for regular TV, but really improves streaming or disc sources. The only downside is that my TV only has direct audio out so the remote doesn't control the volume. If you have a headphone jack with adjustable audio output, you're in luck. Pretty good stereo for $69!
