I wasn't sure how I would use this item but had a feeling it would be useful. I've found it never leaves the range of my sewing machine. I use it to pop the thread back out from under the presser foot and quickly check that I have a quarter inch to pull out my flat needles as I sew, I use it to hold the end of the material as it slides under presser foot to keep it from wobbling or moving. In fact, these are just some of the things I use it for, there are many more, and this little tool is pretty solid considering how light it feels. I love this shop! I guess if you're on the fence you should just get it because you will surely find a use for it. It's not just a stick to press corners on the other hand it has a little tab with a quarter inch mark and then the thin end is actually bent a bit so you can use it as a hook. In any case, it was worth the price.
