Pump saved us after heavy rain in 2018

Our property was hit by 18 inches of rain in 36 hours during Hurricane Florence. The ground was soaked with water and there was water everywhere. Although the water receded, the flooding intensified with each rain that followed the storm. We had up to eight inches of standing water covering several acres. We ordered this pump and it has worked wonders. We placed it at the bottom of a metal pizza pan that we bought at the Dollar Store. We connected a 100ft hose to the pump (regular garden hose connects directly to the pump) and ran the hose to our pond. This pump worked continuously for 3 1/2 weeks, continuously pumping water from the site to the pond. Without the pump we would have flooded the house. You must turn off the pump every other day to clear any debris that may have gotten into the inlet, otherwise the pump will just keep running. It doesn't turn off automatically, so you'll need to keep an eye on the water depth. We had so much water we bought a second water bug. If you need to pump water out of your garden, this pump will do the job. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Pros
  • Top drain ideal for tight spaces where water needs to be removed; Window fountain, buckets, etc.
Cons
  • Expensive
