Try to remove the hard plastic cup!
EDIT: After reading a few reviews I found one that suggested removing the hard plastic cup inside. After doing this, it sealed in both my sink and bathtub. Not sure if you should remove the hard cup but with the cup inside it wouldn't work for me. I would suggest trying this before returning it. I really wanted this to work, but it didn't work. 't. It didn't stop water from flowing down the drain in my sink or bathtub. Maybe my sink and tub have weird finishes, but that didn't work for me. :(
