Applies to: Kodi Edition/R.Pi4 This case is very similar to Canakit but a few dollars cheaper. You get the metal case itself, top and bottom covers, thermal pad, and 4 screws. I chose this unit because it runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and I don't want pet hair to clog the tiny fans afterwards. I had a job on the CanaKit case during the week; no problem paying attention to a few things: Since the center column of the Kodi case was painted black, as a precaution, I sanded it with very fine grade automotive sandpaper until I had a nice flat layer of aluminum for better thermal conductivity. I cleaned the residue with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. I watched a YouTube video on installation as I was confused when applying the "sticky" side of the thermal pad to the CPU or case. As it turns out, the thermal pad has 2 sticky sides. That's right - READ THIS: You MUST remove the thin film on the opposite side of the thermal pad that is not yet adhered. This exposes the second sticky side, which you can use to connect the processor to the main stand inside the case. Trust me, he's making contact. Just hold the circuit board for a few seconds, put the bottom cover on and screw it on. Simple steps: 1. Make sure everything is included (THERMAL PAD REQUIRED) 2. Sand the B-pillar that will be in contact with the thermal pad and clean with alcohol. Wipe the processor if you touch it. Allow all surfaces to dry.3. Remove one side of the thermal pad film and apply it to either the CPU or the B-pillar4. Remove the foil from the other side of the thermal pad. 5. Install the Pi board, align the connectors with the holes and hold for a few seconds (ensure the GPIO ribbon cable is installed and threaded if using GPIO). 6. Tighten all 4 screws. A few notes: The sides of this case MUST get warm if you've installed the padding correctly. This should probably be installed outdoors where there is a free flow of air; around room temperature. Once you've installed the circuit board, you can't remove it without destroying the thermal pad. No big deal, just clean and install new pads keeping an eye on the foil on both sides. Since the package doesn't include additional heatsinks for RAM or an Ethernet controller, don't worry. I can't imagine these ICs getting hot enough to need them.
