Review on 🍷 Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pump with Vacuum Bottle Stoppers (Black) - Preserve Your Wine Longer and Prevent Oxidation by Robert Yates

Believe it works!

This is a cheap plastic air pump that appears to remove some air from unfinished wine bottles. The included rubber stoppers make a slight sucking sound when you remove them after a vacuum pumping motion. This suggests that there is a slight vacuum being created in the bottle, so I tend to think it's working as intended. To really find out if this works, you'll have to experiment with two identical bottles of wine. Drink half at a time, pump out one and compare it to another that has just been corked. If a Vacuvin-treated wine tastes better than another after a week at room temperature, you should know that it's working. Prevents wine from becoming vinegary. I haven't run this test yet, but it seems to make sense that removing some air (O2) will reduce the oxidation of CH2OH to CH3COOH. If you really wanted an answer, you would quantify the acetic acid in both bottles. What has been "vacuumed" should have less vinegar! Carbonating the headspace of the bottle with an inert gas such as N2 or Argon may be the best method, but this may be a bit overkill unless you drink very expensive wine. I'm afraid I'm a bottom shelf guy. So it might not even be worth keeping a half-empty bottle! Only use it for cooking :)
