I have this in a 34 gallon monoblock and was able to build momentum very easily to create a standing wave even without a second pump. At power level 4 I get up and down about an inch on either side of the tank. I love that it remembers my settings, for example when I switch to full continuous power to stir up sediment a bit. . Even remembers when I turned it off! The lock setting is also a great feature so pressing the dial doesn't reset the settings you have.
