Great performance at a low price

I bought this to engrave and lightly cut for my Shapeoko 3XL and I couldn't be happier. I had some reservations at first because the laser dot was actually a fairly wide oval, but using the focus nut I was able to get a fairly flat spot. I wouldn't expect insane detail here, but it cuts a much thinner line than my 1/16" LightBurn bits on the first try. I started with the recommended settings and got good results. Surprising is the performance compared to the stats not not great cutting 1/8" plywood for the number of passes is a bit tricky but it might also depend on my settings, focus and distance (probably also a misunderstanding of how to move the tool down a bit on each pass). I would have liked a longer power cord (6ft) and a much longer cable from the included board. to the laser head (6 feet). Right now I have things in my setup that are basically hanging out of the way and I need to hold onto them during major surgeries. Considering it gave me all the features I wanted for about $500 less than the plug and play option, I can't say enough positive things. Pros: Decent quality. Relatively easy to use with some soldering/do-it-yourself. Good cutting ability. Cons: Short cables. The mounting bracket is not the easiest to install. Only a few screws (m3 and m5?) are used, which screw into the back of the bracket. Focus and distance (probably also a misunderstanding of how to move the tool down a little each pass).
