Review on Stamina Fold-to-Fit Exercise Mat (84x36-Inch) for Easy Folding by Ken Arellano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best choice for durability, comfort and utility is exercise mats, not just exercise pads/floor protection

I looked at many options before deciding on this mat (bought 2) and was able to not be happier with my choice. One of the perks for me is that this mat is larger than most offered in the exercise and equipment categories on most websites. The additional square footage better matched the available space in my range of motion, which was important to protect the carpet in my rental. The two mats together make for a near-perfect fit while still providing plenty of room for my training purposes rather than supporting equipment. In terms of device support, however, I can say that the treadmill in my training area is supported much better by one of these mats than the discounter cushion currently available. There is no quality comparison between the mat in question and the device mat currently in use. The carpet wins unconditionally. For a small apartment with limited space, the folding function of these rugs is a real asset. The folded size (36L x 12W x 1.5H) makes it easy to store under a bed or other furniture or even on a closet shelf as the weight of each rug is quite comfortable for overhead storage. The "fold lines" for each 12 inch section are slightly thinner than the "mat" sections, allowing the sections to fold, but the relative thinness in no way compromises the mat's durability. I used mats. for several months, regular folding and unfolding, and there is no sign of wear or tear, either on the folds or on the section surfaces. Easy folding for storage, as well as compact size when folded, made the mats an ideal choice for exercise, where soil protection is needed. I have had blocking squares, folding mats, yoga mats etc and none of them come close to the quality and durability of this folding mat. The structured surface of the mat offers a light grip, even when training with socks on your feet. The surface is even more grippy barefoot. The mat can be used with both sides facing up, so you don't have to worry about unfolding the mat for use. The folds do not allow the mat to lie completely flat due to the "nautical effect" of the material after folding, but this effect is not enough to cause any real problems when playing sports. For example, I've never tripped over a crease as a very small ledge isn't enough to trip over. Mentioned here only because the rug does not lie completely flat when, after storage and brief reuse, it is unfolded before being folded again. I'm not sure if the rug will flatten out completely if left unfolded for a while, but I suspect the slightly raised areas will eventually become completely flat. I can imagine that the mat can move during exercise when placed on some surfaces, but I didn't have this problem when placed on fairly dense carpet. The problem of "slipping" is easily solved with strategically placed Velcro, tape or weights. For sports, this mat (2 in my case) was a good choice: high quality material, easy to move and store, and protects the carpet. excellent, provides some cushioning for training and is inexpensive compared to a number of other options. Highly recommended based on my experience.
