Good price for flat sanding

One thing that bothered me about the description of this sander is that I couldn't figure out what kind of sandpaper it uses. I couldn't find this information on the manufacturer's website either. The answer is that it uses 5 inch 8 hole Velcro discs to collect dust. This is a common and readily available abrasive, but the manufacturer should make this clearer. This grinder does not have variable speed. It doesn't matter because I almost always run my variable speed grinder at top speed. There is a dust bag that attaches to the grinder by a tab with an outside diameter of 2.5 cm. The collection bag is made of non-woven fabric and the frame is made of lightweight plastic. There is a rubber O-ring on the grinder so the seal between the grinder and the collection bag is very secure. The bag is difficult to empty - you have to detach the bag and shake out the sawdust. I don't really care because whenever possible I attach my sanders to a vacuum cleaner or dust bag. I was able to find an adapter for my industrial vacuum that fits snugly into the 1" hole on my grinder. The sanding pad has a thin layer of "pad" material supported by a hard plastic or fiberglass disc. The surface being sanded has very little cushioning or flex, so it works best on flat surfaces. Eventually the Velcro surface will wear out to the point where you will need to replace it. It's attached with four screws, so replacing it should be easy. The grinder itself feels solid and is a good weight. The mill is easy to hold. Performance is good on flat surfaces and the engine doesn't stall even when you apply downward pressure. Dust pickup is very good if you connect a grinder to a vacuum cleaner. Collecting dust with the bag that comes with it seems fine, but I rarely use it. The noise level is typical for this type of mill. In other words, it's pretty loud. I measured about 85 dB at 15 inches. The use of hearing protection is recommended. The grinder I used is a Dewalt tool that I paid twice as much for as this one. This Black & Decker grinder seems to remove material a bit faster and is relatively easy and pleasant to use. This is a nice addition to my shop.
