Accurate scales with personality

This is the third kitchen scale to grace my kitchen. It's an upgrade in so many ways: 1. The flat surface is an absolute dream to wipe clean with a swipe! 2. The display is very easy to read; The blue display contrasts nicely with the scale's sleek black glass color.3. it is measured in MILLITER AND UNITS OF LIQUID. This is a huge time saver for my baking. I've tried water, milk, coconut milk, and butter to check the density of the item being weighed, and the results have been correct every time. Batteries (2x CR2032) were included with the scale and lasted several hours of baking. This is a unique battery size though, so I'd suggest buying a pair if you don't have them in your battery arsenal. It's also lightweight, making it easy to grip and move even with arthritic hands. The downside and reason for my 4 stars is a balance issue when the tare 'button' is 'pressed'. The buttons are completely flush with the glass, making it impossible to know when you've successfully pressed them. Buttons are also included in the weighing surface; that can be good or bad for the cook. I read the instructions carefully but didn't mention how long it takes to reset the scale with the tare weight. It takes several "presses" on the tare section "touch screen" to reset the scale to zero. Every time you press it, it weighs the pressure of your finger, which can be a bit confusing at first! A successful tare will not be shown on the display unless the weight of the tared bowl exceeds a certain amount. So I had to learn by trial and error that you have to press it several times and wait a few seconds. between presses to reset the scale. If the bowl you are taring weighs more than the threshold, the scale will display "TAREโ€. This is a very clear indicator and for 5 stars you should read TARE every time you tare. Second, the legs on the bottom of the scale are positioned so that when you press the buttons, the scale tilts forward toward you. There are no legs under the buttons, so the scale loses its balance. That's a bummer. Pray your items to be weighed are heavy enough to prevent this, or be prepared for some items to slide off the scale when you press the buttons. I haven't had any tipping or slipping issues when weighing heavier items. In general, very simple, convenient scales that are always at hand. I will continue to use it and learn its secrets.
