You can easily check if something is hot without touching it.
I like that you can check if something is hot beforehand you touch it. I tested it on my electric range and it read about 800 degrees. I had no idea they were getting so hot and so fast. The metal is red hot! I originally bought it to check the temperature of my catalytic converter. But I was just randomly checking things around the house. I don't have anything to compare to make sure it's accurate, but I'm happy with it nonetheless.
