I bought this with an Apple Pencil to see if I could digitize my notes for work, but I just couldn't get used to writing on the screen. The lid offered extra friction but not quite the feel I was looking for. If you're used to writing on the same piece of paper with a dull pencil, you might be fine with this screen cover and the Apple Pencil, but I'm more of a fine-tipped pen and a writing pad - I like it when the pencil only sinks and glides with a lot of friction. As far as screen protection goes, this screen protector does it pretty well. provide more protection from glare, and the matte finish makes everything but handwriting/drawing blurry. I tried but I don't think this product was for me.
