Short Sweet and Simple is what it is and does what it does. Subaru took inspiration from another automaker and implemented a "better idea". Unfortunately, like this other company, not all "best ideas" are real. In particular, someone who designed the 2017 Forester mistakenly thought it would be a good idea to put a USB port for the radio at the bottom of a 6" (width) x 6" (length) x 10" (depth) Placing a flash drive between plugging the console in is a problem, especially since your hand fills most of the dark well when trying to access the port, which requires some blind poke at the port until you click it Seemingly inconspicuous The cable on the USB port of the Subaru Forester suddenly becomes an imposing behemoth I no longer have to shy away from profanity Rent from the neighbor's child or otherwise endure complications or expense to accomplish the simple task of playing music from a computer. Now the cable hangs out of a hole in the console with a flash drive that can be easily found and swapped out.
