I've replaced doorknobs before, and this was a replacement as well and not a new install. The parts come together perfectly and the installation was pretty straight-forward. If you look closely at the picture of the door, you'll notice that the consequence of replacing a circular fixture with a square fixture is that the scratched paint around the circle from the somewhat loose previous fixture requires some touchup, but that's a simple project.My concern however, is about the security that this fixture is supposed to provide. In the other photo, you can see the screw on the right that comes with the kit to fasten the strike plate to the wall. On the left is the one I took out of the previous fixture. So it's not fastened into the wall very well. But even beyond that, the strike plates are very thin metal and the sides that would take the impact of someone pushing in on the door would snap like toothpicks.In other words, if you live in a fairly safe neighborhood and you're primarily concerned about keeping people from just walking into your house, this would be a very attractive way to do it. If you want it to be a secure force against intruders, keep looking.
