Cools, Pumps, Glides

There's controversy over whether a cooling pad cools a laptop well. I think it's because it sets the laptop apart from a hard desktop that can conduct heat or prevent it from escaping. So I'm assuming it's cooling. My Microsoft Surface 2 doesn't shut down like it regularly does when I launch 2 browsers, several heavily used photo editing software, and various others. on a smooth metal grid that makes up the stand. When I tilt the laptop, there are pull ups to keep it from slipping off the stand. But I don't bend it. So it slides around. It still slides when the stand is tilted, but doesn't slide off the stand. It would have been better if some areas of the stand were made out of a material that the laptop could cling to that smooth metal. I may have to improvise, but I shouldn't. As far as I can tell, most of these cooling pads have the same problem. Another problem is that my laptop, which is definitely flat and hard, wobbles on the stand because the stand isn't quite level. It's like a table whose legs are different lengths, so the table wobbles every time you put a glass on it. I type, my laptop moves up and down. annoys. These are all design issues that can easily be modified. So why not? Am I the first person to use one or do I have a lemon? The only alternative is to send that one back and get another one to see if it's flat. Right now I have a cool, rocking, annoying boner. hmmmm
