Successful repair: Works like new. A point to keep in mind.

I dropped my Tab S6 and broke the screen. Some careful web research led me to this replacement part. After doing a similar repair on my Note 9, I decided to try the same repair on my 2 year old Samsung tablet. Item was shipped and received within a week. It was very well packaged and in excellent condition. There aren't many videos on how to fix this particular tablet on the network, but there are. The procedure is simple. Make sure you have the right tools (guitar picks, hair dryer or hair dryer, tweezers, spatula). Take your time. After removing the old screen (it will chip, crack, splinter - be prepared. Consider wearing gloves and safety glasses), clean the outer edge with rubbing alcohol and a swab to remove any adhesive residue. Blow air to remove glass dust. One thing I found is that the original screen has a small circuit board with a small ribbon cable. This wasn't on the new screen. See attached picture. The new screen has a large band on the left, but no small circuit board and thin band. I removed the circuit board and tape from my old circuit board and attached it to the new circuit board. Not sure if it was absolutely necessary. At first I thought it was because the touchscreen stopped working after the reinstall. (The tablet was on during the repair - I couldn't turn it off). After a forced restart of the tablet, everything worked fine, even the touchscreen. (The fingerprint reader didn't recognize my fingerprints. But that's probably to be expected since the hardware has changed. I had the new fingerprint recognition set up. I was able to use the adhesive strips that came with the new screen to attach everything back together.I cut these strips into thinner pieces and carefully wrap them around most of the perimeter before closing them again. My Samsung Tab S6 is now 100% back and I am happy. The missing circuit board mentioned above and the tape may not have been a problem - didn't fully check after restarting the power supply to see if they were needed (I suspect they were needed).Good product.Would recommend and order again (although I hope it is is not needed).

Pros
  • All screens have passed a rigorous series of tests before shipment and are well packaged.
Cons
  • Almost everything is there
