Review on SLIDES2PC Photo Negative Slide Converter by Allan Lambert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Completely satisfied

I have read many bad reviews about this product which seem to be due to the owner's computer and not the product itself. I use this product to scan about 700 Christmas slides for my family and create a book from the scans. I started on December 4th and I don't see any problem in completing the whole project by the 25th. Of course, the quality depends on how much disk space you can allocate to the project (full resolution scans are VERY impressive). I find scanning to a 12MB TIF file at the lowest setting (24 color depth, whatever that means, and 1800 DPI) to be perfectly acceptable for my amateur needs. I have used the product 3 times so far. First and last time on my work PC (a decent new Dell) and once on my home PC (Dell, around 4-5 years old). At work, file transfer was quick, about 20-25 seconds for 12 slides. Working from home was a bit tedious as file transfer took 1 to 2 minutes per scan. As I said, this is a relatively old computer. Anyone expecting to get fast results from this product on an old PC is a fool and I think those fools have unfairly decried the product's user reviews. Maybe this will help. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF YOU ARE USING A COMMODORE 64! This should clear things up here. Maybe this will help. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF YOU ARE USING A COMMODORE 64!
