I use this backpack for a number of reasons (I travel a lot) and the best part is that you can pack very few things in and roll the bag. Tailored to your needs, making it very compact when you use it with multiple things. It can also be carried around with socks, underwear, T-shirts, a pair of flip flops, a pair of shorts and toiletries, and a baseball cap for about a week. And maybe a few more things you want to pack. You can hang something outside, but next to a light jacket I would recommend hanging something heavy. Cleaning is as easy as cleaning any other plastic item (wipe down and you're done). Now consider that if you need compartments, the only small compartment it has is enough for a couple of passports, a couple of credit cards, a couple of keys and some money (it all fits in, I travel with all of those items most of the time If you think there might be a problem with this, just bring some black tape and if it tears it will work.
