Review on Prier 630-7755 Wall Hydrant Repair Kit: Fix Leaks and Restore Functionality by Ben Diesel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The taps were leaking, now they're gone!

It would be 5 stars if instructions were included. Sure I've done some homework on their website and the videos they've posted are phenomenal, but I would have preferred a simple diagram for each hydrant type. It took me a while to figure out which fire hydrant I have and then more fun. I'm pretty sure mine didn't have an o-ring from the factory, so it was really fun to find out. Again, if the diagram had been included it would have saved me some time. All in all, for someone who has never serviced hydrants, everything went very smoothly and the parts fit two of my leaking hydrants. At the same time, both were missing an O-ring from the factory and both were leaking after new ones were fitted a few years ago. So maybe not the best product but now they don't leak anymore! Cutting the water line, replacing 2 hydrants and removing a few gallons of water from the water heater and re-attaching a square block of wood to one of the hydrants took about 2 hours. I should probably add that both faucets leaked the handle when turned on, no big deal, just a drip every second or two so I got fed up and finally got them fixed. I don't know if the missing o-ring was to blame as I replaced the entire kit as I took everything apart. I'm guessing it was the copper piece on the back with the rubber washer as that looked the most compromised, so maybe the rubber o-ring is just an extra piece. Now there is no leak and I am happy!
