Review on ๐Ÿ“ฑ Coby Kyros MID8125-4G: 8-Inch Android Tablet with Internet Touchscreen - Features 4 GB Storage by John Bourgeois

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good tablet for my purposes.

An 8 inch Kyros tablet running Android 2.3.4 is just that. When buying it, don't expect the same features as the Motorola Xoom or Apple iPad. If you need these features, consider spending another few hundred dollars on one of these. However, if you're looking for an inexpensive alternative that lets you surf the web, check email, and do other light calculations, this is a great little tablet for that. It has enough processing power and RAM to handle these tasks and remains more user-friendly than a similarly equipped netbook. Being Android, it will be very familiar to those who are already accustomed to the operating system. While the resistive screen does not support multi-touch, it is compatible with a stylus. Speaking of the screen, that might be its biggest downside. While the screen is sharp overall, it's not as sharp as more expensive devices. Sensitivity isn't as good as a higher quality capacitive screen either. However, the device also costs $185 compared to devices with prettier screens that cost $300 or more. For me it was a fair exchange. Likewise the low resolution of the front camera. While it doesn't take top-notch photos, it does work for video chatting. For apps, the "Appslibโ€ marketplace is pre-installed on the device and I was able to load Revainโ€™s App Market onto it very easily. While there won't be many tablet apps in the Android ecosystem, there are still plenty of compatible apps to choose from. In summary, you don't get a cool logo or an extensive ecosystem with this tablet. Instead, you get a modest price and the ability to perform routine web tasks from one convenient platform. If you're content with the lack of 3G compatibility or the "coolness" of a "super" tablet, then this is a good choice.
