Review on YiHERO-YP1 Thermal Bluetooth Label Maker: Portable Business Labeling Machine for Barcode, Organizers, Crafters & more (Pink) by Maurice Branch

Disappointing software

This little thermal label printer is cute, rechargeable, small and not exactly cheap so I'm being tough on it. The software is really the problem here. It has a few issues, starting with the fact that it was clearly designed for the Chinese market and has been (poorly) translated and not adapted for the US market. You can find "I Love Series" and "Inspirational Series" which includes a nice "I Will Succeed" sticker (obviously I won't succeed in grammar class). If you create a new label, you must enter its size in mm. Yes, this is used around the world but not in the US. I doubt most people will be able to tell the size of the supplied labels (they are 30mm x 40mm). Now it would be helpful if the software used the big blank space next to the size input field to specify the unit of measure, especially if you enter an incorrect value your labels will be garbled. The editor allows you to add text (with a very limited selection of fonts), symbols (some clipart), barcodes (most popular formats are supported), QR codes, shapes, frames and serial numbers. It's quite complex, although the advanced features aren't obvious. I also had trouble aligning the labels that came with it; Experimentation can help you determine where the printable area actually is on the label if you want to position the graphic accurately. While this is a good label printer overall, I think the software really needs improvement. It's not a cheap printer, and neither are the labels.
