Spikes on the ends of the elastic laces are plastic and don't "stick" to each other. This means tying a knot at the tip, which increases the tension on the tip. Another brand I owned had suede leather tips and they held up even after cruising. The hard plastic tips slide off making it a poor quality design. Additionally, the seam at the top of the sock is a simple face-to-face connection of materials, suggesting the material has frayed and frayed over time. In the picture it looked like the seam was rolled up so the edges weren't showing. Not this case. So I would classify the shoes as cheaply made.
