I bought this heating tape for outdoor use.
I bought this heater tape to use on my outdoor water valve during the winter. Although I have a ceiling in the room it leaks a bit and since it's over the finished ceiling I have to cut a hole in the plaster to replace it. This tape allows me to keep the outer valve warm enough so it doesn't freeze. A few years ago I heard water flowing on a Sunday afternoon and found that an open water valve had cracked at -5 degrees outside. Water shot 10 feet across my yard. What a mess. Will not happen again.
