The length of the pipe must match the length of the heater.

The length of the pipe must be equal to the length of the heater or longer. It cannot be installed on both sides of the pipe to use the excess if the pipe is too short, and it cannot be wrapped around the pipe to use the excess. The instructions indicate that such installations may present a fire hazard. If you have a 2 foot pipe, don't buy a 3 foot heater.

  • Decent performance

Ideal for protecting RV water hose from freezing.

This is the second heater I have used to get the water flowing in my van hose. So far this winter we've had four days in a row where temperatures dropped to 7 and only rose to 22. The line did a great job of keeping the water hose from freezing. I connected a heat pipe to a water hose with electrical insulation tape, then wrapped it in foam pipe. Then tape the styrofoam to keep it airtight and to help with the extra insulation. I know it's not what it was designed for, but it does the job.

Don't waste money!

This thermal tape lasted 2 months before it stopped working and started turning off my GFI. Immediately frozen water and almost burnt water pump. We replaced the GFI thinking it might be worn out. nope Worked once you connected the thermal tape. Not a single worn spot is visible on this tape. Replaced the GFI switch with an AFCI socket because I figured it might need more clearance before turning off the socket. nope! This tape is garbage. Oh, and conveniently, he died a week after the date Iโ€ฆ

I bought this heating tape for outdoor use.

I bought this heater tape to use on my outdoor water valve during the winter. Although I have a ceiling in the room it leaks a bit and since it's over the finished ceiling I have to cut a hole in the plaster to replace it. This tape allows me to keep the outer valve warm enough so it doesn't freeze. A few years ago I heard water flowing on a Sunday afternoon and found that an open water valve had cracked at -5 degrees outside. Water shot 10 feet across my yard. What a mess. Will not happenโ€ฆ

Very good pipe heater

I installed this on a 1" PVC pipe under my RV. Before installing the cable, the plastic pipe must be wrapped with aluminum foil. High quality tape every 6-8". I used Styrofoam for everything. The sensor needs to be in contact with the pipe. It's protected down to 5F so far, with wind chill at least 10F below that. Not when it's hot It's meant to be plugged into a GFCI outlet It's only been installed a month so I can't comment on its longevity It turns on at 38F and off at 45F pipe temp I'm very

Works perfectly on rough plumbing

Since we live in an RV in Pennsylvania, I needed something to protect our water supply hose from freezing. I used this thermostatically controlled heating band along with swim noodles (1" ID hole to fit dollar store bought hose and heating band. NOTE: The noodles were scored on one side and slipped over the heating band and hose , then the gap was sealed with tape). The temperature dropped to 9 degrees Fahrenheit and our water line never froze. We also saw little impact on our energy billsโ€ฆ

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

GREAT VALUE - No more frozen pipes.

The water lines have frozen under the extension I added to my house even though it was wrapped in insulation. I installed several of these heating wires and rewound all the leads. They are very flexible and easily fit inside and outside corners. I used tape every foot or so to keep everything snug to the copper pipe, then I put the insulation over it. It's been a few years and no more problems. The connector itself has an LED that glows orange when power is present. A second LED would be niceโ€ฆ

Motorhomes are a MUST-HAVE in winter

A must for motorhomes IN WINTER. Instructions for use are simple. I've used it now for several winters at -14F and can say that this manufacturer makes a good product. Strip the thermal tape to the hose without twisting it. Wrap the hose with 1.5โ€ณ (or 1.25โ€ณ) pipe insulation, join each section together with a gorilla (4โ€ณ) and wrap the tape around each leg. This method is not very flexible, but works best on long pipes. bends slightly from the faucet to the RV water inlet. I used 25// hose (taped

Everything worked out fine in the end, with some variability

I bought an 80 foot item. The installation went as expected. The guide is pretty good. Of course, you need to buy some kind of tape separately to attach the cable to the pipe. I used proprietary tape (Easy Heat HCA 30ft pipe - four rolls per 160ft) but you can use any high temperature electrical tape. As always with these cables, you must route the cable plan so that the entire cable, including the thermostat module, can make contact with the pipe. The thermostat module must be attachedโ€ฆ
