When I record my voice with Audacity and the mic is on the table, the peaks are -20dB when I hold the mic in my hand and hold it close to my mouth, -12dB. I would like the level control to add 20dB, and so I always have it at the maximum. On the other hand, Audacity has a level indicator, but when I speak via skype-zoom-discord, I don't see the indicator. So if there was where to turn the gain, you would have to do it blindly. Fifine could solve this problem if the backlight showed the signal level in color. But one can only dream of it.
