My mare has been lame intermittently for a year. She's been shod most of her life (she's about 14) and no, I've walked barefoot. They suit her perfectly! I ordered the second size. They come out of the bondage, so don't rub. The only thing about the cuffs is that they take up little space, so the velcro on the back barely fits. It took her a brief second to get used to it, but she ran alone and swam like a dressage. Horse! (Quarter TB cross). I'm amazed! These boots come with pads; I suggest ordering a size up if you plan to buy comfort pads.
