Review on Autel MaxiCheck Pro: ABS Brake Auto Bleeding OBD2 Scan Diagnostic Tool with SRS Airbag, Oil Reset, SAS, EPB, BMS - Lifelong Free Software Update - NOT for All Cars by Alex Romero

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best bass and midrange diagnostic tool I've found

It does everything I expected and a little more. Works on my 1996 Audi, my 2008 BMW and various Mazda, Ford and Toyota vehicles. I think it's considered "two-way" because it can tell the computer modules in the car to do multiple things. I was concerned it might not work as well with German cars, particularly older Audis, but was pleasantly surprised that it might mess with the main ECU, airbags, gearbox and ABS. The user interface isn't perfect, but it works. There is a complete and unique identification (manufacturer, model, software version and minor version) of the computer module with which it interacts. At least it doesn't currently unlock any frivolous features on my BMW like some BMW software does, but it can query the status of all switches and sensors for really easy troubleshooting and reset service lights/intervals. I believe it can disable the electronic parking brakes, although I haven't had to do that yet. I say "currently" because Autel appears to be releasing software/data updates for various models that can be downloaded from their website after registration (free for now). ) very well, as you would expect from any modern diagnostic tool. I haven't figured out if it's possible to display more than two real-time sensor readings at the same time, but two was enough for now. (For example, eight values would be handy for a V8.) A little model-specific repair advice from the trouble codes would be nice, but it's just a tiny inconvenience to google the code on my phone and get loads of advice from all the forums. Comes with a decent carrying case which should keep it safe. The device's exterior feels solid and sealed enough that it won't be killed by a typical retail environment. The screen is easier to scratch than I would like, but maybe I can find a suitable iPhone screen protector. This is not a touch screen. I would like a longer cable at the OBD port, but I have my own extension cable if I want to work from the engine bay rather than the driver's seat. Overall it's way better than any other scan tool I've bought. This allowed me to find the exact problem with a complicated BMW (GM!) transmission (complete transfer case) and have it fixed for a few hundred dollars instead of going through the dealer's $4500 full transmission replacement. to me.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • No mold required
