Review on Seventh Generation Free and Clear Dishwasher Detergent Packs, 20ct - Natural & Eco-Friendly, Packaging May Vary by Neal Martin

Free and transparent plate packs

I have been using seventh generation plate packs for 18 months now. My dishwasher always leaves powder in the detergent drawer so I have to use bags to prevent this. I was very happy with the cleanliness of my plates and they never left any marks. The original version of these dish bags was packed in a cardboard box. I was disappointed to see the packaging had been changed to plastic and contacted Seventh Generation to express my disappointment. To my surprise, they responded as follows: We appreciate your concern about the impact of the products you have purchased. I want to make it clear that the packaging we use can be recycled. It can be recycled at most grocery stores, many places in front of the store have plastic bag recycling, and a bag can be added. Another important note: the cardboard we used for the packaging is not recyclable. There was a small amount of clay in the cardboard to keep moisture out and this prevented it from being recycled. It can break if exposed to the right elements, but most likely not if thrown in the trash. The new packaging isn't perfect, but the overall impact is actually less than the cardboard we used. We believe that plastic should only be used when needed and that it should definitely be recyclable. We continue to work on the packaging and ingredients of our products to minimize exposure. I really hope that our products can still be suitable for your home. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance. --- Update 2013 --- I'm still using 7th generation plate packs and I'm still happy with the cleanliness of my dishes.
