I wanted to get a wide angle to the Olympus E-PL1 whale lens. I thought about Zuiko 9-18, but the toad was choking and I just wanted some kind of fix to save in size and weight. I began to stare at the fisheye, but when this lens was announced, I was tempted to purchase it. I sold the video pancake PZ 14-42, because it was infuriating that when you want to look at the pictures on the camera, it always unfolded, which was not required of it (it also eats batteries). I bought the lens hand-held, from the person who bought the GM1 for itscompactness and HD-video capabilities, this lens was indispensable to him. The focal length is changed manually, which for video (unlike PZ) can becomnsidered a disadvantage, since it is difficult to maintain smoothness, but I rarely shoot video. I did not expect that it would be more difficult to photograph at 24mm than at the usual 28mm EGF for whale zooms. In fact, thanks to this lens (and GM carcasses), the Micro Four Thirds system finally invaded the niche of advancedcompacts, which are now forced to defend it due to aperture ratio or standard zoom ratios.
