Not sure if 8lb is the weight class for duvets as I've seen a few duvets but was expecting a duvet that which weighs 8 pounds. It seemed to me that it was lighter than I expected, so I weighed it, put it in my bag and used the luggage scale. It only weighed 6.5 pounds. This is a good quality heavy blanket just not quite what I was hoping for. The reviews I've read have ranged from "this blanket isn't heavy enough" to "this is the heaviest blanket you've ever had". I found this duvet to be about the weight of a lighter denim duvet. If you are looking for a sensory therapy blanket I would look elsewhere and larger, if you are looking for a heavyweight, cozy blanket this might suit you.
