I bought them to protect bamboo floors. I had rug under our dining table but my poor dog got really sick and decided it would be best if he destroyed the rug. They were very easy to install on all chairs and eliminated scratches that scratched the floor. But the funny thing is that cats also love them very much. I walk out of the bedroom and almost every morning at least one or more of their chairs get ripped off. I have a lot of cats so yes the ASPCA must love me but I don't understand cats spending all night yanking them off chair legs. No harm no foul, I think the cats could be worse. But when it comes to bamboo floor protection, they are aces. I guess you could call them cheap dual-use cat toys. Eventually they will get bored.
