Review on Waterproof XPEL Dry Bag by Wilderness Systems - Convertible Shoulder Strap & Valve for Cooler Functionality by Jennings Ford

average weight. Well done. Difficult.

I like the weight of the fabric (and the resulting bag). Packsacks are available in different weights. I would describe the XPEL Dry Bag as a medium weight bag. I personally like lightweight bags for many things. but not lightweight dry bags, which are too easily punctured and more prone to leakage through the rolled top, at least when no additional sealing mechanism is used. XPEL offers a good balance of strength and weight, which is almost right. All seams are wide and taped. Attachment points (D-rings) are tacked four times onto large welded pads. The buckles are Fastex (a Fastex brand, not just a Fastex type). I'm assuming D-rings and carabiners are the same. The band is folded in half before being sewn back together with a double bar. A ribbon is sufficient. It's undoubtedly stronger than what the bag needs, but feels a little flimsy, which is something to keep in mind if you expect to carry it around. Jury for me on the valve. It works but I really have no idea about the durability. However, in the event of a failure, a simple weld will quickly restore the full functionality of the bag. I think the valve is a good choice, at least for packing things like clothing where a hard squeeze helps.

Pros
  • Sports and outdoor activities
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
