Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ 1-Pound Kiln Wash for Fireworks by Jennifer Roberts

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Just. Not. I used oven cleaner. It DESTROYED the bottom of my NEW microwave!

As an art teacher at age 22, I know how important it is to use the oven rinse properly to ensure your baked (or microwaved) items don't stick to oven shelves, in this case the bottom of my new large microwave glass melting furnace. Since I'm more comfortable using a thick coat of oven wash than the thin, watery coat that other reviewers in the guide have complained about, I applied a generous coat of wash, making sure to cover every part of the horizontal surface as well did like the edges of the raised area and let the base dry, uncovered and open to air, overnight. The next day I set up my layers of clear, dichroic, and opal glass for the pendant I was hoping to make. Followed the same steps I've followed countless times when melting my parts and constantly watched the oven as it spun on my turntable in the microwave, looking for the characteristic melt glow. Seen, checked, noticed the glass had just started to glow, microwaved for another minute or so, checked again, saw it just started to melt and melt, put in for another minute, checked again, seen noticing that the glass had just melted and the rims were starting to gather, pulled out the stove and set it on the cooling rack to cool. After a few hours I opened it up and saw the jar was cold to the touch and it was done. Tries to lift. uh, get up. Yes indeed. climb. Serious? Hooked it up with a butter knife when it just wouldn't move and my piece popped out. with a large piece of the base still attached. Used the butter knife to scrape a piece of oven floor from the molten glass and here I am. I just opened up my new oven. I'm literally waiting for it to arrive to melt again and here's what I got with that crappy wash. Never. If I could I would hire Fireworks to replace my BRAND NEW stove as their product and my belief that they would provide what was promised - protect the bottom of the stove - ended with, that my new oven was DESTROYED. You really do get what you pay for. and sometimes it destroys something you've already paid six times as much for. Treat yourself to expensive burning paper if you don't want to get stuck trying to figure out how to patch your glass furnace. Terrible product. Never again.
