Umbrella first used at least 250-300 miles from shore during recent Hurricane Sally. Needless to say we had a strong wind which turned the umbrella over when I opened it. I straightened the umbrella and walked to my car, turning the umbrella into the wind so it wouldn't invert again. Instead, the wind caused the entire frame to deform. Now the shade is warped and won't keep its original shape. When open it is crooked. I could overlook the fact that it was actually windier than usual but the specs for this parasol say "weatherproof" and I assure you it isn't. This umbrella is designed for rain, a slight breeze is possible. Don't buy this umbrella if you need something permanent.
