I got this because my arborist advised I close up a hole in one of my large maples where squirrels are wreaking havoc on a large pruned branch cavity. He told me to NOT seal it off with anything solid, and recommended a mesh screen because I needed wind to air out the cavity and he didn't want me trap moisture in with any other method.This mesh screen is perfect and it is definitely marine grade stainless steel (304). It lets the cavity breathe, yet keeps the squirrels out of it.The second area I used this was an outdoor kitchen vent from a downdraft unit that I've always been slightly fearful of attracting rodents through the vent. This is nice enough to allow the stove vent to vent freely, yet enough to keep any rodents out.
