Replaced the nearly new KYB Gas-A-Just (which are notoriously stiff) on my 1972 AMC Javelin with these "classic" shocks in hopes that they will drive better, but they actually appear to be a little worse. I'm not sure if it's because they're gas-pressurized—the original 1972 shocks weren't—but they seem to dampen big bumps well and amplify small bumps, much like you might experience if too there is a lot of air in the tires. I'll try Bilstein next time based on comments from friends with similar cars. I think you get what you pay for in this case.
