I got this lamp as an accessory for my piano setup in my home studio and it's perfect. Quality: This is a heavy blade and all materials are smooth finished. The recessed USB connector is very durable, and there is a cable lock at the base to prevent accidental unplugging. The height adjustment stand is smooth and stable. Performance: The touch controls (tap to change, long press to turn off) work great, as does the very cool dimming feature, where moving clockwise around the top dims things and anti-clockwise brightens the output. I really like this feature as it is more variable than my other 3 level lights with simple on-off, high-mid-low brightness settings. Light output and colors: It's difficult to capture true colors with a digital device, but I love them all. A simple "soft white" is perfect for reading, other colors set the mood. One of the modes toggles a range of colors, which I think would be great for a party. It's not my favorite, but they switch between colors very smoothly, staying in each mode for a few seconds before moving on to the next. In general I like this device. It's weighted so it doesn't tip over, light output varies, colors are saturated, and even if it only had warm white for reading or ambient lighting, it'd still be a winner. Finally I tried to use a remote application. It downloaded easily from the App Store and was easy to subscribe to. However, when I tried setting it up for my Wi-Fi network, it turned out to be "not secure". I don't know if that's a disadvantage or if it's standard on such a network (I don't have "smart lights" in my house), but I wasn't entirely comfortable with the connection. On top of that, it's perfect and easy enough to control with touch (and quite a lot of fun).
