Review on Grill Gauge GG 1100 Original by Leslie Cyrius

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Simple and accurate. A great idea.

That's awesome. It's simple and reliable, but it takes a little muscle to check the tank. You hook it to the top of the tank, loosen the screws that hold the tank in place, and lift it up. It's based on the principle that fuel weighs something, and when it's full it weighs more than when it's empty. In my experience, there is no need to unscrew the hose from the tank. I've tried many others including ones that connect the tank to the grill. The three views I used have either been leaked or are very inaccurate. You were considered empty when the tank was more than 1/3 full. I've also tried one that has a strip attached to the tank wall that measures the temperature difference between the liquid and gas portions. Most of the time I don't see any difference in color in cold weather. I've been told that the real cure is to have a spare tank. So if I run out of one, I can just replace it. I get that, but I don't have a suitable place to store a 5 gallon propane tank and I'm not sure this is a safe idea. I don't want to be inside but when it's outside it gets very wet from the rain. Then it rusts, and then the devil knows what.
