I bought this product to repair scratches and scuffs my new puppy left on my pre-treated wood floor. This Coconix set includes tubes of different colors to create your own custom color for your renovation. You must select a "Primary" and a "Secondary" color using the color chart provided, which shows the many shades that can be mixed. It is difficult to choose the perfect color from this table. So I just started trying a few combinations on a piece of paper with a small amount of dye. Finally I'm pretty close as can be seen in the picture below. However, I decided to email Coconix customer service to ask for their expert help as they suggested. I received a quick and detailed response from Maria, Account Manager at Coconix. Maria recommended using my chosen colors (cherry and oak) and provided detailed instructions including coloring to replicate the texture of the wood. The photos shown are only applied with dye. I'm out of cherry blossoms. Maria from Coconix checked on the progress of the renovation and agreed to send more paint so I could complete the renovation for free. What a great job Coconix does in customer service. I haven't applied the grit or top coat yet as the dye needs to be finished first. Coconix's Maria also made suggestions as to what could be used to restore the top layer. This product is great for indistinguishable repairs, but you need to be patient and take your time. Once you have made some sample colors and contacted Coconix for color mixing recommendations, you will get used to using this product. Always mix paints and then test them out on a scrap piece of scrap or on a remote part of the project to get the right color before proceeding with the actual repair. I also bought an artist's slanted trowel as shown in the picture. This blade is flexible and gives you 2 angles, which is very handy for leveling infills and creating clean lines between wooden planks when needed. If you're looking for a professional repair that's barely noticeable, try this product. Take a photo of the damage that reflects the actual color as closely as possible. Don't use flash. Cell phone image with distant room lighting works well. Buy a kit and send a picture to Coconix with a description of the damage. And take your time for the best results. Coconix will help you with a great renovation!
