Review on πŸ”“ Effortless Lid Opening Made Easy: OXO Good Grips Jar Opener with Base Pad by Chris Pettway

Revainrating 1 out of 5

This device is useless; DO NOT open pitcher lids unless they are already loose.

This is the first OXO product that I have been dissatisfied with. Unfortunately, this can opener is useless. I bought this to replace an old OXO can opener that I had for years but for some reason disappeared. The old one had "jaw teeth" on both sides, while the new one only had teeth on one side. The other "claw" is made of polished metal, so it has no gripping surface. Even moderately tight covers will not open with this device. It slips off long before the lid moves no matter how hard I squeeze it. I asked my neighbor, a very athletic young man, to try it and the same thing happened. He pressed so hard he thought he might break it, but the device slips and the lid won't rotate. He could easily open cans with just his hands. We experimented a little, with less compression pressure, then more pressure, but nothing worked. Cans of olives from the fridge were not opened. Honey jars were not opened. Mason's Banks are closed. This device is useless except as a paperweight.
