The lights on the switch only come on when the switch is pressed

Shipping was fast and even answered my questions quickly. The indicators on the switch only light up when you press it down. That seems backwards to me as I thought I wanted to see a switch on the dash so I knew where it was and which way to steer the plow in the dark. The pinout doesn't match the John Deere 620i, but I thought I could work around that with jumpers.
