Since there is such a thing as a Crazy Cat Lady, I proclaim myself the Crazy Router Dude. Hidden away in my garage are more than a few boxes containing nothing but wireless routers of almost every make, size, shape, and possible functionality. After filling out most of these fields, I selected Netgear as my preferred brand. I have several of their models lying around, for what purpose I don't know. Unfortunately, this router is about to join the boxed-up brigade, and not for good reason. I bought this router a year after buying the Netgear R6300. NETGEAR AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Smart WiFi Router (R6300v2) The R6300 was installed elsewhere and never had any problems. I have a second RMA for the R6100, and instead of paying the $29.95 Advance Replacement Fee, I've decided to ditch the router and use the savings to buy another router from a different company to buy. The R6100 was just as easy to set up. like R6300. Just plug it in, change the default router settings to your own (you don't want to upset your neighbor stealing your wifi, do you?) and route. Unlike some, I like the Netgear Genie app more. I haven't used it for setup, but I like that I can graphically see which devices are connected using user-assigned icons. I guess it has a lot of other features you could use, but I'm usually too busy turning off a kid's wifi when I'm hearing the wrong sounds from their tablets. In fact, that's my only complaint about the two R6100s I've had. were LAN ports. As a dinosaur I have a house that I connected with Cat6 cables. So I use some fancy stuff on the back that looks like a big POTS connector. It didn't really bother me that even though the title of the article says "Fast Ethernet", it's actually only 10/100. It would be more correct if the sockets were properly soldered into the device. In my two examples, after about four months of use, the entire block of 4 ethernet ports on the device became disconnected and only intermittently connected. Since my VoIP and other devices rely on Ethernet, this is not a valid error. I used strain reliefs, hand cut styrofoam pieces and just shook to keep everything connected, they won't. So I give up for now. I would try to steal the R6300 from my son-in-law, but then I would have to talk to him.
