Thought we might use this at home to mind the dogs. Unfortunately installation was a problem as I couldn't use it in a door, it has to be outside the door edges on one side or the other. This is a problem due to the presence of 5 inch baseboards. If we try to fix it over the baseboard, a small dog can still get through. Its opening mechanism is another problem when you are carrying something. since you have to lift and turn the spool to open and close. Also, it doesn't look very pretty when assembled. With properly sized baseboards I imagine blocking off children or larger pets would be fine. I'm rating it four stars because functionally it's a barrier, although I'm not sure how much weight it can support. I ended up gifting it to my nephew for his newborn. As always, your mileage and preferences may vary.
