I was very lucky to find a fisheye lens for my Canon T6i for less than $200 and I even registered a Revain credit card to get another 80 Get a $ discount. - My total cost is just under $110. I thought I really got this thing for next to nothing. The lens arrived this afternoon, no less than a DAY early! How much "better" could it be? Then I started taking test shots. I immediately had problems getting a properly exposed picture. Currently. I'm not a professional photographer. and I use a $400 Canon body crop sensor (Rebel T6i) which is pretty good. but it's not 5Dmk3. But still. I was expecting more, especially after seeing tutorials and Gojo reviews on this lens. The first is when they say it's entirely manual. they are not joking. Live view image feedback not working. I searched online for answers to fix this and after playing around with it for 2 hours and also reading online and watching videos about "similar" camera settings (because there was no EXACT setting for my camera. The closest one I found , was for 70D). In any case, Live View is not applicable with this lens. That means you use the viewfinder 100% to get the right settings. Unfortunately, the T6i doesn't even recognize that a lens is attached, so you'll have to fiddle with the settings to avoid showing bad information on the screen. In principle, you cannot rely on screen settings. The histogram looks hot so you need to compensate manually when using a histogram. The exposure meter in the viewfinder shows 2 to 2.5 f-stops. and to top it off. The IMAGE that appears when you review what you just captured on the camera screen is also WAAAAY off. The only real way to know what your image looks like is to download it to your computer and bring it up in Photoshop/Lightroom (I used Photoshop), look at the histogram and make your notes, then go back to the Camera. and reset the settings to get a properly exposed image. After all that the sun was going down in the sky so I went ahead and took some test shots, went back to the porch, took some final shots and THEN switched the lens to a Canon lens to compare color and detail. I was very disappointed. I used the Canon EFS 10-22mm as a comparison lens. It was the closest lens I had. The image I'm including is from Altura Fisheye. All test photos had terrible chromatic aberration. I enlarged the little red square so you can see it (hopefully it will be visible in this review). The clouds have a red border, and there is a thick patch of purple color in the sky at the edge of the wall. I bought this lens to stitch 360 degree spherical images. And to that end, the detail at the edges of the frame is somewhat more important than the detail in the middle of the frame, because that's where the stitcher pulls out the common points to create a spherical image. a lens with terrible chromatic aberration at the edges of the image. For me this is an important point. I gave this lens 3 stars because the lens construction is good. It's durable and weighs the same as other similar fisheye lenses I've worked with in the past. I'm sorry to report that this lens fits my Canon EOS Rebel T6i terribly. [correction] 24 hours later, while still testing shots, I found that if you use the histogram information to adjust your shot, you get a horribly dark/unusable shot. The live view screen histogram is unusable. You need to take a test shot, then look at the test shot in the overview, THEN examine the histogram. Since the screen is SO dark during capture (especially when you're in the sun), the only way to see your image enough to use the viewer to crop it is to zoom it 3 stops. Get your frame. then scale it down, turn off live view and just use the screen for the data. This review also applies specifically to the Canon T6i. The 5D series seems to work well with this lens. If you're shooting a T6 series (or similar I think), forget about relying on the screen. In that case, you'll have to go old school.
