Review on First Alert CO Detector Alarm with Digital Display and Peak Memory, Battery Operated, CO410 - No Outlet Required by Jay Liu

Faulty/poorly designed battery door latch - it WILL BREAK.

I bought three of these battery powered detectors because I didn't want to run extra wiring for the necessary protection. One of the features I liked was that the battery compartment on the front allowed for easy battery swapping. Being very careful and prudent, I took it out of the box and read the instructions twice to understand the features and installation. After opening the compartment to insert the necessary batteries, I broke the latches on all three alarm clocks. The locking mechanism is very flimsy, fragile, and frankly poorly constructed. With all the positive qualities of the metal detector, this faulty latch spoils it. If a manufacturing company has a designer, they must have had a VERY bad day. Now I'm going to "fix" the problem with Velcro to keep the battery cover closed. If I can understand why can't a company do this before selling them. As for their usefulness or effectiveness, I haven't even bothered to publish them. Too busy fixing a manufacturer error. After installing and testing I will make another post.
