Turned on when it was 60 degrees F outside. Constant switching on wastes valuable energy in the mobile home. Since the heater was shorted when delivered, it got hot and wouldn't turn off. As an added safeguard, I install an additional, more accurate thermostat that will not allow any of the 5 heaters to turn on unless the outside temperature is 33 degrees Fahrenheit. The optional thermostat turns on the 12 VDC relay. The outside temperature drops to 33 degrees. This should result in significant energy savings. The glue on the heater is exceptionally good. Also, my recommendation (when the tank is on the outside) is to foam the entire tank with silicone glue (not filled with bubbles). Be careful not to use an adhesive that is not recommended for polyethylene plastic (used for most RV tanks). The concept and result should be great, but consider installing an extra thermostat/relay and covering the tank with extra insulation (aluminum foil foam - should work fine). Do not forget to tape the insulation against wind and water. Do not use fiberglass insulation. It will collect water and hit the target of isolation tanks.
