This combination of grater and slicer (mandolin) seemed like a good idea to me. But when I tried to remove the plastic protection on the razor-sharp mandolin, I cut myself badly. Then when I tried to replace the guard, I cut open the joint next to my fingertip. You must use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the protector and CAREFULLY to install it. I think this protection is a terrible design and sent photos and comments to the company's support man Jarett Hale on April 29th. There is no answer yet. Just buy a long standard friction microplane. That works fine. Buy a separate mandolin if you want.
