Review on Comfort Zone Cat Calming Pheromone 🐱 Collar: Promote Cat Serenity, Happiness, and Behavior Improvement by Rhonda Green

Works BUT it may hurt a long haired cat

If you have a short haired or medium haired cat you can try this because it actually calmed my "stingy cat" and became more clingy and stopped hiding and stop tagging/writing on the couch. BUT a few days after wearing my long haired Ragdoll's collar (Ragdolls have a softer and more tangling coat so this product may be harmful to this breed) we noticed some tangled hairs. Fur under the collar and around it. I figured a few more days of calming down with the collar would be in order because he's been staying calm at our home this week during the transition. Exactly one week after wearing it I had to remove the collar. My cat was itchy (possibly due to matted patches of fur around the neck or a reaction to the collar if possible). We had to call the vet and schedule a visit to the cat groomer just 3 weeks after our last visit (our cat needs professional grooming a few times a year but not every 2-3 weeks)! Fur and knots, so a 1-2 inch piece of fur was missing from his neck and a 1x1 square piece of fur was missing from under his chin. I'm so upset that he was hurt that part of me wants to say 1 star BUT to be honest the collar worked on my restless cat and he hasn't had it on for a week that he's had the collar on peed the couch. His brother scratches the curtains but this collar didn't seem to change his demeanor or damage his fur (he's also a rag doll but with shorter fur that doesn't tangle) but he managed to wear the collar by age 7. Avoid day of wear and I have not put it back on because it has not changed its behavior. Please DO NOT use on long haired cats that get tangled easily. You will harm your cat. There should be a warning on the packaging stating that it should not be used on long-haired cats. We have ragdoll cats and one has woolly rabbit fur that gets tangled easily. Poor man, look at the pictures. All of the missing fur appeared in just a week after wearing the collar. Try it if you have regular cat fur. Calms down a shy cat. I have returned the collar and am buying a diffuser and a year's supply of replacement parts of the same brand as the collar because I believe pheromones work on my cat.
